We are delighted to welcome Yuan Gao to the Professorship of Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) at the Technical University of Munich. Yuan brings extensive knowledge and experience, and we are excited about the contributions he will make in his new role as a doctoral candidate.
Yuan earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design, manufacturing, and automation, graduating with honors from Hefei University of Technology. He then pursued two master's degrees at TUM: one in Mechatronics and Robotics, graduating with High Distinction, and another in Development, Production, and Management in Mechanical Engineering, which he completed with Distinction.
During his master's studies, Yuan worked as a student assistant with the truck simulator and wrote his semester thesis on control engineering for motorcycles at the Chair of Automotive Engineering. Later, he conducted research at the Chair of Information-Oriented Control, where he completed his master's thesis on Containment Control of Multi-Agent Systems. Additionally, he gained valuable industry experience through an outstanding internship at Bosch Group in Holzkirchen at ITK Engineering, working on the control of medical robots.
Since October 2024, Yuan has been conducting his PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Johannes Betz at the AVS Lab. His research focuses on scenario generation based on Large Language Models (LLMs), with the goal of achieving the comprehensive validation of driving functions.
We are confident that Yuan’s dedication and expertise will significantly advance our research initiatives in the lab. Please join us in warmly welcoming Yuan Gao as he embarks on this exciting journey with us.
Welcome to the team, Yuan!
