Application of vehicle dynamics control systems
Project Completed - Contact: Dr.-Ing. Frank Diermeyer
Development of a method for optimal tuning with regard to rollover safety and agility.
Motivation
A high death rate from vehicle rollover can be observed in the USA. Against this background, a rollover risk assessment procedure was introduced. An associated procedure for evaluating the handling has not been established. As a result, a low risk of rollover at the expense of agility can be achieved with a suboptimal vehicle configuration.
Goal
In this research project, a method will be developed to assess the trade-off between the risk of vehicle rollover and vehicle agility.
Implementation
- Collaboration in the ISO/TC22/SC9/WG9 rollover
- Definition of suitable driving manoeuvres
- Implementation of hardware-in-the-loop simulations with real ESP control units
