Objectives
After participating in the module events, the student will be able to assess the effects of changes to the engine control system in gasoline engines. By working on the automated engine test bench, a thorough understanding of the structure, function and possible uses of a test bench in engine applications is built up. Exercises carried out in teamwork expand the knowledge of basic internal engine interrelationships and associated problems and conflicting objectives.
Description
The practical course is aimed at students who want to deepen their knowledge of general physical relationships of internal combustion engines in practical exercises. Based on the contents of the lecture "Internal Combustion Engines", this course teaches the basic interrelationships with regard to the typical conflicting goals of efficiency, performance and emissions. Furthermore, an insight into typical measurement technology and test bench automation is given. The relationships are worked out theoretically, partly in group work, and then verified on the test rig. Two single-cylinder SI-engines, operated with gas and liquid fuels, as well as the usual measurement, control and automation technology are used.
Prerequisites
Attendance of the lecture Piston Engines I (previous Internal Combustion Engines) is recommended prior to participation in the practical course.
Examination
Für jeden Termin ist eigenständig eine Ausarbeitung anzufertigen. Diese Ausarbeitungen werden benotet. Der Schnitt aus den Einzelnoten ergibt die Gesamtnote
