General description:
In MOSAIQ, we interlink mobility and urban climate to create a mosaic of measures that strengthen environmentally friendly forms of mobility, participation and social inclusion as well as quality of stay and climate resilience in Munich - for a future worth living with a better quality of air, time and space and for more social, spatial and climate justice.
We are conducting participatory and iterative street experiments in two Munich neighborhoods to test the sustainable redesign of public (street) space with more green space, areas for culture, play and recreation and with innovative approaches for the mobility of tomorrow - whether with cargo bike sharing, new parking space concepts or the dynamic use of areas, e.g. for school or delivery zones. In other words, we are creating space for people, with a wide range of mobility and usage options for all needs, thus contributing to decarbonization and quality of life in the district.
Objectives:
-
Investigate the perception of fair distribution of public space & acceptance of measures, influence on the attitudes/behavior of residents
-
Co-creative implementation of street experiments & testing of innovative mobility concepts
-
Highlighting process changes & acceleration in administration through real-world laboratories; scaling/cascading effects on other districts & exploring necessary steps to perpetuate temporary measures
-
Education and training of students and citizens as “multipliers”
