SILO Land Use Model
SILO is a simple yet powerful land-use model that can fully be integrated with travel demand models. This allows representing the full land-use/transportation feedback cycle. SILO is a microscopic model, enabling the integration with both aggregate (or four-step) and disaggregate (or activity-based) travel demand models.
SILO is written in Java and open-source. The model was developed by Rolf Moeckel while working at Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. for Minneapolis/St. Paul in Minnesota, USA. Subsequently, SILO has been implemented for the state of Maryland by the National Center for Smart Growth at the University of Maryland and is currently implemented for the Metropolitan Area of Munich.
