Student Research Assistant Positions
We are looking for three motivated Student Research Assistants interested in working on various projects with the research group Travel Behavior. We focus on travel behavior research and transport modeling. Specifically, we are looking for students enrolled at TUM with the following qualifications:
- Models. One person to support the development of transport models. At least some programming experience in R or Python is required for this position. Experience with modeling and GIS is a plus.
- Java/MATSim. One person to support the calibration of an activity-based model and the class “Applied Transport Modeling with MATSim”. Experience with Java is required for this position. MATSim knowledge is a plus.
- Data collection. One person to support data collection campaigns (online questionnaires, time use diaries, in-depth interviews). Fluency in English and German are required for this position.
Each of these positions is planned for 8 hours per week and initially funded for 6 months (hours can be allocated flexibly to some extent). The preferred start date is December 1st 2024. Solid knowledge of the English language is required for all three positions (knowledge of German is required only for the data collection position). After six months, it is possible to continue working as a student research assistant with the group, subject to the performance of the successful applicant and available funding.
To apply, please send an email with your resume, a cover letter, and a 300-word writing sample to applications.tb(at)ed.tum.de. The writing sample could be an abstract of previous research work.
