Rick Donnelly (WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff)
A tale of two ambitious models
Large scale integrated models designed two decades apart, first in Oregon and then in Ontario, share some interesting similarities. Both primarily focus on transport analytics, but within larger regional economic context. They operate at high levels of behavioral, temporal, and spatial resolution, and used to inform similar issues and policies. Evidence from both systems will be critically examined to assess the return on investment for the advanced models included, that operate at agent levels of representation. What has gone well in both platforms, and what has not, will be critically assessed, as well as how they are expected to evolve.
Dr. Rick Donnelly is Vice President at Parsons Brinckerhoff and has decades of experience of integrating transport and land use models. He is renowned for developing some of the most advanced statewide models, some of which include ambitious land use models, microscopic freight modeling and using Big Data for travel behavior analyses.
