Parking space concepts
Parking space management in Munich
Outline
Most of the time the situation of stationary traffic in cities is very strained. Due to that problem the accessibility and the functionability cannot be ensured any more. The number of demanded parking bays exceeds the existing supply of parking space. Because of that the percentage of illegal parking rises up.
The solution of this grave problem is the creation of a parking space management concept which is in line with the current supply and demand of parking bays.
The investigation area is the whole area within the „Mittlerer Ring“, the main ring road of Munich. The following aims should be reached:
- Limitation of the originating and the terminating traffic
- AReduction of the traffic in search of a parking bay
- Improvement of the situation for residents
- Accessibility for customers, visitants and commercial transport
- More effective use of the marginal parking space
Tasks of the chair
- Creation of a geodatabase for structural data
- On-site inspections, analysis of structural data and traffic balances
- Arrangement of parking space areas
- Creation of parking rules keeping in mind structural and sociogeographic facts and the actual demand of parking space in a certain area
- Accomplishment of investigations
