metaCCAZE
Flexibly adapted MetaInnovations, use cases, collaborative business and governance models to accelerate deployment of smart and shared Zero Emission mobility for passengers and freight
Project Description
The metaCCAZE project seeks to contribute to the urban mobility transition by accelerating the deployment of smart systems that combine electric, automated, and connected mobility and infrastructure. The 43 partners from 12 countries will develop six transferable and innovative technologies, including automated charging, AI-based real-time planning for autonomous fleets, and low-emission traffic management.
The technologies will be implemented in innovative passenger and freight applications (public transportation, on-demand minibuses, micromobility and delivery services) and smart infrastructure (mobility and logistics hubs, traffic management centres, charging infrastructure).
Four Trailblazer Cities (Amsterdam, Munich, Limassol, and Tampere) will serve as testbeds to test and demonstrate the potential of these new technologies in real and diverse urban environments. Then, successful technologies and activities will be transferred to six Follower Cities (Athens, Krakow, Gozo, Milan, Miskolc, and Paris region). To ensure the technologies meet the needs of citizens and urban mobility stakeholders, collaboration activities will be organised locally in the cities.
Tasks of the Chair
The Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control plays a twofold role in the metaCCAZE project. First, it is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the activities and demonstrations in the trailblazer Living Labs (LLs) —Tasks 3.6— and is thus a member of the executive board. Second, it is the main supporter of the Municipality of Munich (Landeshauptstadt Munchen; LHM) in the design and implementation of Munich’s LL. Our role is to contribute with our expertise and provide scientific support for the monitoring, evaluation, and optimization of the activities of the LL.
The Munich’s LL consists of three main innovations:
- he set up and operation of a network of multimodal logistics hubs
- he implementation of a dynamic curbside management system
- the deployment of a small-size connected and (party-)automated vehicle for last-mile transport of passengers and goods.
