Task: Independent implementation of a web GIS comfort-based accessibility tool
The tool is to be a web-based application that calculates and graphically displays the spatial accessibility of urban areas based on various interactive comfort indicators. The concept of comfort-based accessibility is provided. The target group of the InclusiveSpaces project are people with mobility impairments, including people with various disabilities. As a result, we aim for the tool to meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Requirements
Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program at a Munich university or college, preferably in one of the following fields: Geodesy and Geoinformation, Geospatial Science, Cartography, Computer Science, Information Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience and interest in programming, web development and/or GIS tools
Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Ability to work independently
Good written and spoken skills (in English (min. B2))
We offer
We are an international team and offer insights into scientific practice as well as the opportunity to work on various research projects. We encourage participation in internal meetings, project appointments and workshops. The working hours are at least 8 hours per week and can be flexibly determined in consultation with the team. The position starts as soon as possible and is limited until October 2025; an extension is possible. Working in the office (TUM Campus Innenstadt) or remotely is possible. Payment is in accordance with the standards for student/scientific assistants at TUM.

The Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning focuses on sustainable and integrated mobility planning in urban, rural, and regional areas in teaching, research, and practice. The Research Group Mobility Justice investigates the needs of different people in various projects in order to design mobility and public spaces for all. The project InclusiveSpaces focuses on the inclusive design, monitoring, and evaluation of urban spaces.
