Climate change and transportation: Case study in London

Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing cities, and planners must develop strategies to reduce emissions from transport, and make urban areas more resilient to expected changes in climate extremes. This paper presents results from London, showing the use of simple land-use and transport models, alongside models of climate impacts such as flooding or heatwaves, to understand climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies in an integrated framework. Hopefully this will lead to a deeper discussion on the types of models used and the need to apply land-use transportation modelling to this challenging problem.
