Academic Career
Milad Malekzadeh earned his Ph.D. in Control Engineering with an application in intelligent transportation systems from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, as a member of the Dynamic Systems & Simulation Laboratory (DSSL) research group. His doctoral dissertation, supervised by professors Markos Papageorgiou and Ioannis Papamichail, focused on the advanced topic of internal boundary control for lane-free automated vehicle traffic. As part of his research, he made significant contributions to the TrafficFluid project, which addressed key challenges in automated vehicle control for innovative lane-free traffic systems. In addition to his academic achievements in Greece, Dr. Malekzadeh holds another Ph.D. in Control Engineering with a concentration in Electrical Engineering from Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, Iran. Following the completion of his second doctoral degree, he continued his research as a postdoctoral scholar within the DSSL group.
Starting in October 2024, Dr. Malekzadeh has been appointed to the Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control at the Technical University of Munich, further advancing his scholarly pursuits. His primary research interests lie in optimal control, traffic control, and nonlinear dynamics, where he seeks to bridge theoretical insights with practical applications in the domain of intelligent transportation systems.
