The chair of Transportation Systems Engineering has grown! Dr. Christos Katrakazas Dr. Tao Ma have joined the chair!
Christos Katrakazas received a PhD from Loughborough University (United Kingdom) and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He has worked for about two years, initially as a research assistant and then as a research associate at Loughborough University. In 2014, he was a visiting research student in INRIA, Grenoble, France. His research focuses on autonomous vehicles, road safety, machine learning, traffic microsimulation and Big Data. He has authored peer-reviewed journal and conference publications mostly on the safety assessment of autonomous vehicles as well as real-time collision prediction.
Tao Ma received his PhD and M.A.Sc from University of Toronto, Canada and his B.Eng. from Xi’an University of Architecture & Technology, China. He has an extensive experience of Project Manager, Traffic Planning & Operations and his main research interest focus on Intelligent transportation systems, modeling and simulation of transportation systems; Big data analytics, time series modeling, advanced forecast methods; Statistical and machine learning; heuristic optimization; Traffic operations and management, transportation planning, public transit.
