TUM Global Funds
Duration: Sep 2017 to Sep 2018
During the past decade, Social Media (SM) have emerged as a prominent trend in social communication. The SM information spectrum (spatio-temporal and textual) forms a valuable source for a new typology of information (User-Generated Content, UGC). The Chair of Transportation System Engineering (TSE) aims at initiating an international collaboration with leading universities in the USA (Northwestern University, NU, and University of California, Santa Barbara, UCSB) to utilize UGC in transportation models, in close collaboration with the TUM Liaison Office in San Francisco (TUM-SFO). This will be achieved by the organization of 3 workshops and one long-term research visit. The workshops will target diverse audiences to showcase TUM research on mobility and transportation, generate new research ideas and explore funding opportunities. The long-term research visit will occur in-between the workshops to materialize the collaboration and prepare joint publications.
