Instructions for Discussant (Expectation: Meet online before the symposium to talk about content of each presentation and how the discussant can build on the presentations in the response)
Before presentations: Discussant give 5 min intro to topic and introduces presentations
3 presentations follow
Discussant has 10-15 min to explain what we learned collectively from these three presentations, add own research if relevant, what have we learned in last 5 years, what we need to do in the next 5 years
Discussant moderates discussion with audience
Encourage discussants to involve more people in discussion
Instructions for Presenters
Relate own research to big picture theme of symposium
Presentation shall end with an open question that shall be discussed at the symposium (What do you want people to ask you about?)
Online meeting before symposium shall include:
- Have an understanding of the content
- Discuss general theme that shall come out of the session
- Discuss structure of the session
